Mabel Hemme, 92, of Higginsville, formerly of Concordia, died Sunday, June 27, 2004, at Meyer Care Center in Higginsville.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 30, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Concordia. Rev. Lee Hagan will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Chapel in Concordia. Pallbearers will be David Reith, Richard Reith, Jack Wake, Jeffrey Wake, Wendell Bredehoeft and Michael Boehmer. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Meyer Care Center or Kansas City Hospice.
Born April 21, 1912, in Lafayette County, she was the daughter of the late Henry Roehrs and Christina Fuchs Roehrs. On Feb. 17, 1930, she married Alvin Hemme, who preceded her in death March 1, 1966. She had lived in Lafayette County all her life and worked at Lutheran Good Shepherd Home for more than 19 years. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and its Lutheran Ladies Aide.
Survivors include two daughters, Nadean Reith and husband Leonard of Concordia and Beverly Wake and husband Rodney of Wichita, Kan.; six grandchildren, Teresa Bredehoeft, Kathy Boehmer, David Reith, Richard Reith, Jack Wake and Jeffrey Wake; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Hubert Hemme; six sisters, Tillie Tieman, Leona Ohse, Mollie Perry, Elsie Stockman, Thekla Graff and Flora Horman; and three brothers, Emil Roehrs, William Roehrs and Louise Roehrs.
