Fauneil Smith Hieronymus, 78, of Sedalia, died Thursday, June 24, 2004, at her home.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, June 28, at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel in Sedalia. Rev. Drew Hill officiated. Pallbearers were Bobbie Lee, Bill Morris, Jason R. Chamberlain, Dr. John Drenon, Gary Fleming and Phillip Ramey. Honorary pallbearers were Juanita Williams, J. R. Jake and Betty Cornine, Aileen Shoemaker, Marge Dey, Georgia Riley, Mary Beth and James Demont, Vera Fox, Bob and Joyce Bailey, Leona Payne, Joyce Williams, Virginia Sevier and Mark Coster. Entombment was in Memorial Park Mausoleum. Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church in Sedalia in care of the funeral chapel.

Born July 2, 1925, in Ionia, she was the daughter of the late Oliver and Ethyl Brooks Smith. On Sept. 9, 1941, in Sedalia, she married Charles L. Hieronymus, who survives of the home. She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church, where she was active in the Group 8 Sunday School class. She was also a member of Jolly Elders and past member of Helping Hands Organization (formerly Buena Vista Auxiliary) and the Helen G. Steele Music Club. She worked as a volunteer at Bothwell Regional Hospital for 15 years.

Additional survivors include two sons, Larry Hieronymus and wife June of Nelson, and Gary Hieronymus and wife Marilynn of Warsaw; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one brother, Duane Jim Smith of Sedalia.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Dale A. Smith, and one sister, Phyllis Baille.
