David Byron Sims, 34, of rural Sweet Springs, died Saturday, June 26, 2004, in rural Sweet Springs.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, at First Christian Church in Sweet Springs. Rev. Gene Smith will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Sweet Springs. Pallbearers will be Keith Higgins, Doug Trautman, Brian Zimmerscheid, Paul Allen, Troy Schroeder, Marvin Buesing, Randy Rittman and Mark Strickland. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Sweet Springs. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Levi and Wyatt Sims Memorial Fund in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Sweet Springs.
Born Oct. 29, 1969, in Sweet Springs, he was the son of Lavern Sims and Betty Chappell Sims, who survive of rural Sweet Springs. On Aug. 7, 1993, he married Daphne Lynn Bright, who survives of the home. He was a member of Mt. Zion Christian Church in Dunksburg, where he was a deacon and served on the church board. He lived in Sweet Springs his entire life and was a farmer. He was a member of the American Trapshooter Association and an avid trapshooter. He was a 1988 Sweet Springs High School graduate and had served on the MFA advisory board.
Additional survivors include two sons, Levi Sims and Wyatt Sims, both of the home; two sisters, Debbie Hines of Marshall and Lezlie Baska of Shawnee, Kan.; one brother, Dean Sims of Independence; two nephews; and six nieces.
