Daniel Martin, 58, of Sugar Creek Township in Bellbrook, Ohio, died Sunday, June 20, 2004.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 23, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Kettering, Ohio. Prayers will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church. The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, at Tobias Funeral Home in Dayton, Ohio. Interment will be in David's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or Children's Medical Center N.I.C. Unit.
He was the son of the late Unie and Anna Mae Martin. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. He married Helen Clark, who survives. He retired from Kettering Fire Department as deputy chief. He was a 1964 graduate of Fairmont High School and received an associate degree in fire service technology from Sinclair Community College. He was also a graduate of the Executive Fire Officer program at National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Md. He was a second generation volunteer firefighter in Kettering and the first emergency medical service director for Kettering. He was vice president of I.A.F.F. Local 2151.
Additional survivors include one daughter, Kimberly Rowland and husband Mike of Columbus, Ohio; father- and mother-in-law Joseph and Helen Clark Sr. of Centerville, Ohio; four brothers-in-law and wives, Joseph Jr. and Patty Clark of Springfield, Bosley and Betty Clark of Montezuma, Ohio, Frank and Brenda Clark of Slidell, La., and Rick and Shawn Clark of Urbana, Ohio; two aunts, Faye Houk of Dayton and Beulah Waisner of Marshall; two grandchildren, Patrick Daniel and Emma Louise Rowland; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one uncle, William Hook.
