Mary E. Butterfield, 69, of Marshall, died Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at University Hospital and Clinics in Columbia.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, June 18, at Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Visitation will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Friday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association.
Born Dec. 25, 1934, in Slater, she was the daughter of Susie Miller, who preceded her in death. She worked at International Shoe Company for several years. She also worked at Marshall Habilitation Center in Marshall and at Marshall Public Schools in food service, retiring from there in January 2003.
Survivors include longtime friend Jack R. Hanes of the home; two daughters, Debra Franks and husband Dan of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Brenda Heilman and husband Donald of Slater; one son, Walter "Corky" Swearingen and wife Penny of Springfield; one brother, George Miller of Macon; one sister, Juanita Jennings of the state of Missouri; eight grandchildren, Teresa Northcutt, Tracy Banks, Gena McMacken, Lt. Michelle Peters-Rydberg, Erik Franks, Cody Peters, Dave Franks and Brian Franks; four great-grandchildren, Olivia Head, Jesse Head, Daniel Northcutt and Isabella Northcutt; and several nieces and nephews.
