Ernest E. "Pop" Martin, 77, of Elmwood, died Friday, May 21, 2004, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 25, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Sweet Springs. Rev. Gene Page will officiate. Music will be "In the Sweet By and By" and "Beyond the Sunset." The congregational hymn will be "My Faith Looks Up to Thee." Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 24, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Sweet Springs. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Gene Martin, David Martin, Travis Martin, Tim Davis, Brian Magee and Clifford Martin Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Mullins, Loren Kerksiek, Clyde Upton, Dick Arni, Jack McKee and Gene Ekstrand. Burial will be in Pisgah Cemetery in Saline County. Memorials are suggested to Elmwood United Methodist Church or the charity of donor's choice.
Born March 8, 1927, in Henrietta, he was the son of the late Archie Franklin Martin and Lavenia Rebbecca Hollaway Martin. On June 1, 1945, he married Pearl Edna Pape, who survives of the home. He had lived in Saline County most of his life and was a member of Elmwood United Methodist Church. He was a maintenance man at several local businesses.
Additional survivors include two sons, Ernest Ray "Butch" Martin of Blue Eye and Earl Wayne "Bud" Martin of Sweet Springs; two brothers, Earl Magee of Orion, Ill., and Gene Martin of Kingsville; one sister, Wanda Jones of Edwards; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
