Mildred O. Blackerby Ballenger, 88, of Marshall, died Saturday, May 15, 2004, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 17, at Sweeney-Reser-Wills Funeral Home in Marshall. Rev. Russ Johnson officiated. Pallbearers were Edward Ballew, Jordan Blackerby, James Friend, Jason Friend, Scott Garrison and John Orr. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Marshall Senior Center or the Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
Born June 12, 1915, in Parsons, Kan., she was the daughter of the late George Heilman and Mary Baldwin Heilman. On Sept. 29, 1934, she married Lloyd Irving Blackerby, who preceded her in death in 1975. On June 12, 1980, she married Orbie Ballenger, who preceded her in death in 1986. She was a Marshall resident most of her life and had worked at Viking Cleaners and Laundry.
Survivors include one son, Allen M. Blackerby of Marshall; one brother, William Robert Heilman of Stanton, Calif.; one sister, Barbara Highbarger of Long Beach, Calif.; four grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Lloyd Cecil Blackerby, and two great-granddaughters.
