Beatrice Nancy Orkins Bramwell, 97, of Colorado Springs, Colo., died May 10, 2004.

Funeral services and reception will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 15, at First Congregational Church in Colorado Springs. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 14, at Swan-Law Funeral Home in Colorado Springs. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Pikes Peak Hospice, 825 E. Born Feb. 19, 1907, in Constable, New York, she was the daughter of the late Rufus Orkins and Jennie Mae Stratton. She grew up in Constable. She later attended Alice Hyde School of Nursing in Malone, N.Y., spending part of her residency in New York City. On May 27, 1929, she married James P. Bramwell, who preceded her in death. They lived in New York and in Stirling, N.J., before moving to Colorado in 1945. She briefly worked as a registered nurse at St. Francis and Memorial Hospitals. She worked at Penrose Hospital from 1947 to 1955 and 1964 to 1972. She and her husband spent the intervening years in New Mexico and Texas, where she worked as a nurse. She administered infirmary and nursing services at Fountain Valley School from 1973 until 1978, when she retired.

Survivors include one daughter, Judy Bramwell Harris of Marshall; one son, James J. Bramwell of Colorado Springs, Colo.; eight grandchildren, Michael, Gary, and James Harris, Nancy Craddock, Karen Henley and Kerry, Benjamin, and Ellen Bramwell; 16 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers and one grandson, Joseph Paul Bramwell.
