William T. "Bill" Reid, 76, of rural Houstonia, died Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 30, at Range Line Presbyterian Church in Houstonia. Rev. Leo Birk will officiate. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 29, at Moore Funeral Home in Houstonia. Pallbearers will be Mark Chamberlin, Matt Chamberlin, John Chamberlin, Jason Chamberlin, Bill Meyer, Steve Reid and Ray Dotson. Honorary pallbearers will be Leland Coffelt, Shelton Rissler, J.R. Cornine, John Cornine Jr., Delmar Cornine and John Tevis. Burial will be in Houstonia Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Range Line Presbyterian Church.
Born Aug. 29, 1927, in rural Houstonia, he was the son of the late A.P. Sr. and Martha Shorter Reid. On April 18, 1958, in Warsaw, he married Georgia Hughes Reid of Stockton, who survives of the home. He was a 1944 graduate of Houstonia High School and a member of Range Line Presbyterian Church for 60-plus years. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and a 4-H leader for several years and served on the University Extension Council. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea at the close of World War II. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren and visiting with friends and neighbors. He attended the G.I. farm training program.
Additional survivors include three sons, Don Reid and wife Sherry of Houstonia, Bob Reid and wife Mary Beth of Houstonia and Dave Reid and wife Diane of Higginsville; one brother, A.P. Reid of Houstonia; six grandchildren, Shawn and Kristin Reid, Andrea and Emily Reid and Megan and Adam Reid; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
