Marvin A. Welch, 64, of Marshall, died Tuesday, April 27, 2004, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 2, at Sweeney-Reser-Wills Funeral Home in Marshall. Rev. William Swaringam and Rev. Dale Bean will officiate. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, April 1, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hazel Grove Cemetery.
Born Feb. 15, 1940, in Portageville, he was the son of the late William A. Welch and Connie M. Reaves Welch. He married Marguerite L. Bronson Mixen, who survives of Collinsville, Ill. He was a Marshall and Saline County resident most of his life. He worked for St. Louis Ship Yards for 17 years before his retirement. He also served in the U.S. Navy.
Additional survivors include two sons, Marvin Wayne Welch of Marshall and William Welch of Glen Carbon, Ill.; two daughters, Vickie Welch Miller of Glen Carbon and Tammy Welch Hook of Highland, Ill.; eight sisters, Violiet Finchem of Searcy, Ark., Wanda Flurry of Neelyville, Grace McGuire, Dorothy Gerlt and Shirley Gerlt, all of Marshall, Emilie Harvey and Lora Beeler, both of Slater, and Carolyn Pratt of Breckenridge; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews.
