Nelson Lee Davis, 57, of Columbia, formerly of Saline County, died Tuesday, April 13, 2004, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 17, at Memorial Baptist Church in Columbia. Rev. Bob Webb will officiate. Pallbearers will be Derek Davis, Rick Chambers, Luke Davis, John Davis, Jeff Davis and Tom Redel. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Davis, Roger Davis, Harry Davis and Marilyn Chambers. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall with a graveside service at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Memorials are suggested to the Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund or American Cancer Society in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home, 226 S. Odell, Marshall, MO 65340.
Born Oct. 8, 1946, in Marshall, he was the son of Ralph E. Davis, who survives of Marshall, and the late Mary Isabelle Heuman Davis. On May 4, 2002, he married Carolyn Jean Siegel, who survives of the home. He had lived in Columbia since 1976 and was a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Columbia. He was a field crops specialist for nearly 20 years with MFA Inc. He was a 1964 graduate of Marshall High School and a 1969 graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he received a bachelor of science degree in agriculture. In 1976, he received a master's degree in education, also from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Anita Kaye Everly of Durham, N.C., and Adrianne Renee Davis of Mission, Kan.; three brothers, Charles Davis of Garden City, Kan., Roger Davis of Claycomo and Harry Davis of Marshall; one sister, Marilyn Chambers of Green Ridge; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
