Marybell Petty, 88, of Slater, died Friday, April 9, 2004, at Mar-Saline Manor Care Center in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 14, at Weiker Funeral Home in Slater. Rev. Gene Petty will officiate. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 13, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Slater City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
Born Sept. 9, 1915, in Slater, she was the daughter of the late Raymond M. and Ruby Kitchen Anderson. On Sept. 26, 1934, in Marshall, she married James Wallace Petty, who preceded her in death April 16, 1989. She attended New Prospect Baptist Church north of Slater and was retired from the Slater Garment Company.
Survivors include three sons, James Petty of Columbia, Rev. W. Gene Petty of Dover, Fla., and William M. Petty Sr. of Oak Harbor, Wash.; nine grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Petty, one brother and one sister.
