Donna J. Cox, 67, of Topeka, Kan., formerly of Marshall, died Saturday, April 3, 2004, at a Topeka care facility.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel in Topeka. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 5, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Penwell Gabel Memorial Park Cemetery in Topeka. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Kansas Kiwanis Foundation Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 1371, Salina, KS 67402-1371. Born Sept. 13, 1936, in Marshall, she was the daughter of the late Eugene C. and Inez Waller Siebert. On Aug. 14, 1960, in Marshall, she married Donald G. Cox, who survives of Topeka. She graduated from Marshall High School and Missouri Valley College, both in Marshall, and from Emporial State University, where she received a master's degree in elementary education. She taught school in Webster Grove and Maryville, and for the last 31 years, at East Avendale Elementary School before retiring in 1995. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa sorority, Southwest Kiwanis Club of Topeka and First Christian Church in Topeka. She received the Master Teacher Award from U.S.D. 501 in 1990.
Additional survivors include one daughter, Deborah D. Blaker and husband Bradley of Topeka; and one granddaughter, Jamie Nicole Grittman of Topeka.
