Martha L. Meadows, 78, of Marshall, died Sunday, March 21, 2004, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 23, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Rev. Ben Teague will officiate. Organist Julie Lewis will play "In the Garden" and "Amazing Grace." Pallbearers will be Rusty Harrison, Robert Tadlock, Don Johnson, Justin Coward and David Luckett. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Louisiana. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church Building Fund or American Cancer Society.
Born June 14, 1925, in Pike County, she was the daughter of the late Fred Beckner and Lucille Beckner. On May 11, 1951, she married William E. Meadows, who preceded her in death in 1974. She had lived in Marshall since 1997, moving from Mountain Home, Ark., and was a homemaker.
Additional survivors include one son, Daniel W. Meadows of Marshall; one daughter, Gail Meadows of Marshall; one brother, Fred Eugene Beckner of Memphis, Tenn., two sisters, Mary Owens of Summerhill, Ill., and Frances Schriever of Mexico; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Beckner.
