Helen Leona Arth, 80, of Marceline, formerly of Marshall, died Sunday, March 14, 2004, at Sweet Springs Villa in Sweet Springs.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. Rev. Richard Luebbering will officiate. Organist Ruth Hartung will play "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Abide With Me." Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Pallbearers will be Stephen Arth, Jason Arth, Chris Arth, Dale Allen Dankenbring, James Dankenbring and Keith Eckhoff. Burial will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Dover. Memorials are suggested to the von Hippel-Lindau Research Campaign.
Born June 21, 1923, in Lafayette County, she was the daughter of the late Otto Dankenbring and Leona Frerking Dankenbring. On Nov. 10, 1940, she married Alvin W. Arth, who preceded her in death Feb. 18, 1992. She had lived in Marceline the last 15 years, moving from Marshall. She had worked at International Shoe Company in Marshall for more than 30 years.
Survivors include two sons, Gerald W. Arth of Marshall and David W. Arth of Marceline; three sisters, Laverne Dittmer of Sweet Springs, Mildred Eckhoff of Cole Camp and Florence Butler of the state of Arizona; five grandsons; three stepgrandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
