Louise Suarez, 89, of Slater, died Saturday, March 13, 2004, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 16, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Slater. Rev. Phil Kane will officiate. Organist Bethany Weiker will accompany Melynda Porges as she sings "Here I Am, Lord," "Hail Mary, Gentle Woman," "One Bread, One Body," "Ave Maria" and "On Eagles' Wings." Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 15, at Weiker Funeral Home in Slater, with a prayer service at 8 p.m. Pallbearers will be John Markovich, David Hunter, Jerry North, Tom Donnelly Jr., Jim Brennan and David Meyer. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories Mausoleum in Tampa, Fla. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association or American Arthritis Foundation.
Born Jan. 12, 1915, in Tampa, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Maryanne Maniscalco Cappuccio. On July 2, 1947, in Tampa, she married Dr. Nelson Suarez, who preceded her in death Dec. 9, 1982. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Slater and had lived in Slater since 1951, moving from Tampa.
Survivors include one son, Tony Suarez of Blue Springs; one daughter, Josephine Kolks of Slater; two sisters, Providence Mungiovio of Tampa and Josephine Bearden of Wichita Falls, Texas; two grandsons; and one great-grandson.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Joe Cappuccio, and one grandson.
