Joseph W. Mullins, 92, of Houstonia, died Tuesday, March 9, 2004, at Sweet Springs Villa in Sweet Springs.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 15, at Moore Funeral Home in Houstonia. Rev. Ferrie Cole Jr. will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, March 14, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Dennis Mullins, Joe Cutler, Chris Mullins, Mike Mullins, Mark Reece, Lee Hall, Floyd Mullins, Robbie Wooster, Daniel Mullins and Lancer Mullins. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sedalia.
Born Sept. 26, 1911, in Marshall Junction, he was the son of Wedlon and Dicey Ann Mullins Mullins. On Aug. 19, 1930, in Marshall, he married Edith L. Gatewood, who preceded him in death. He was a farmer and a Baptist.
Survivors include three sons, Bobby Mullins and Manuel Mullins, both of Houstonia, and Henry Mullins of the state of Idaho; one daughter, Virginia Cutler of Houstonia; one stepbrother, Jay Mahan of Kansas City; 18 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and four great-great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by seven brothers, K.C., Chester, Wylie, Earl, Ed, Stewart and Houston Mullins; and one sister, Mary Rachel Charles.
