George J. Cunningham, 76, of Slater, died Tuesday, March 2, 2004, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 6, at Slater City Cemetery. Rev. Robert Sisney will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Weiker Funeral Home in Slater. Pallbearers will be Wilmer Cook, Beno Messer, Eddie Guntly, Patrick Cunningham, Billy Vogl and Aaron Shepard. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Shepard, Jason Shepard, Shane Stehle, Jerry Cunningham Jr., Cecil Marsh and Lee Vogl. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
Born Nov. 12, 1927, in Taney County, he was the son of the late Daniel and Elizabeth Essary Cunningham. On Aug. 21, 1992, in Slater, he married Betty Anderson Shepard, who survives of the home. He was retired from Hall and Riley Quarries in Boonville and had lived in Slater since 1991, moving from Ava.
Additional survivors include two sons, Garry Cunningham and Jerry Cunningham, both of Slater; two daughters, Betty Goodsell of Slater and Debra Cameron of Sandy Point, Maine; two stepsons, Harley Shepard of Blue Springs and Rick Shepard of Granbury, Texas; one stepdaughter, Sherry Vogl of Marshall; eight grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three stepsisters, two stepbrothers and one great-granddaughter.
