J.D. Davis, 92, of rural Miami, died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004, at his home.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at Miami Cemetery. Rev. Bill Wormsley will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jerry D. Davis, Walter "Jim" Taylor, Stewart Blessing, Roger Crank, John Roe, Larry Holland, Russell Cooksey and Billy Joe Narron. Friends may call at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Miami Cemetery or Miami United Methodist Church.
Born Dec. 3, 1911, in Miami, he was the son of the late John Dunlap Davis and Iona Burns Davis. On June 9, 1951, he married Marjorie Ann Scott, who survives of the home. He had lived in Miami his entire life and was a farmer.
Additional survivors include two sons, John Thomas Davis of the home and Jerry D. Davis and wife Kimberly of rural Miami; one daughter, Carolyn Taylor and husband Walter "Jim," of rural Miami; four grandchildren, Waltedda Taylor Blessing, Nichole Davis, J.W. Davis and Jacob Davis; one great-granddaughter, Morgan Blessing; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sylvia Davis, and five sisters.
