Arnold William Kateman, 92, of rural Arrow Rock, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, at Big Bend Retreat in Slater.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. Rev. Tom Anderson and Rev. Rich Shugert will officiate. Music will be provided by pianists Jan Hinnah and Pam Kateman. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Thursday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Pallbearers will be Doug Boland, Glen Kruger, Michael Kateman, Chris Blumhorst, Troy Kateman and Jay Rodick. Honorary pallbearers will be Janet Boland, Diane Kruger, Pam Kateman, Beth Blumhorst and Tammy Rodick. Burial will be in Arrow Rock Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Fitzgibbon-Mary Montgomery Hospice or Arrow Rock Cemetery.
Born March 2, 1911, in Saline County, he was the son of the late Robert Henry Kateman and Josephine Brewe Kateman. On March 15, 1937, he married Alma Fenwick, who survives. He had lived in Saline County his entire life and was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Arrow Rock, where he had served on the church board and was Sunday school superintendent for many years. He was a 1927 graduate of Napton High School. He had served on the Arrow Rock school board and was a member of the Arrow Rock Cemetery advisory board.
Additional survivors include one daughter, Joyce Boland and husband Gene of rural Marshall; two sons, Donald Kateman and wife Georgia of rural Blackwater and Robert Kateman and wife Donna of rural Arrow Rock; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters and one brother and sister in infancy.
