Valerie Ruth Vesser, 93, of Marshall, died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, at Big Bend Retreat in Slater
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. Rev. Jim Long will officiate. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Pallbearers will be Jack Davis, Mike Seward, Buddy Coslet, Joe Coslet, Bart Vesser, Brad Vesser and Jeff Coslet. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials are suggested to Covenant Presbyterian Church or Fitzgibbon-Mary Montgomery Hospice.
Born Dec. 1, 1910, in Kansas City, she was the daughter of the late George B. Simmons and Elizabeth M. Davis Simmons. On Dec. 5, 1927, in Saline County, she married Percy F. Vesser, who preceded her in death Oct. 9, 1974. She had lived in Saline County her entire life and was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Marshall, where she was active in various activities.
Survivors include three sons, Percy F. Vesser Jr. and George B. Vesser, both of rural Nelson, and Jon M. Vesser of Henderson, Nev.; four daughters, Sara-Elizabeth Schuyler of Lee's Summit, Valerie Gay Roberts of Sedalia, Cherie Barr of Jefferson City and Mimi Foster of Gonzales, La.; one sister, Georgena Veit of Omaha, Neb.; 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters.
