James Franklin "Frank" Brown, 92, of Mt. Leonard, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, at Mt. Leonard Baptist Church. Rev. Ed Champion will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the church. Pallbearers will be James Kelso, Raymond Gibson, Chris Hostetter, Brandon Yates, Junior Brown and Rodney Miller. George Brown will be an honorary pallbearer. Burial will be in Pisgah Cemetery in Saline County. Memorials are suggested to Mt. Leonard Baptist Church.
Born June 1, 1911, in Elmwood, he was the son of the late George W. Brown and Ella White Brown. On Aug. 18, 1942, he married Pearl Delores Kelso, who preceded him in death Feb. 28, 1990. He had lived in Mt. Leonard since 1942 and was a member of Mt. Leonard Baptist Church and Sons of Confederate Soldiers. He worked for G.M. & O. Railroad and retired from the Marshall Habilitation Center.
Survivors include four daughters, Ruby Irene Schrand of Marshall, Ruth H. Gibson of Waverly, Pearl Louise Knox of Nelson and Dolly F. Hostetter of Mt. Leonard; one son, Russell Wayne Kelso of Mt. Leonard; one sister, Minnie Sinnett of Gilliam; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Opal Martin, one son, Donald Eugene Brown, three brothers and six sisters.
