James C. "Jim" Evans, 72, of Kearney, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at Liberty Hospital in Liberty.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, at Fry Funeral Home in Kearney. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Bryce Evans, Brad Evans, Jim Roebuck and John Cramer. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Kearney. Memorials are suggested to the charity of donor's choice in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall.
Born July 3, 1931, in Dawn, he was the son of the late Morgan Evans and Lydia Gallatin Evans. On July 27, 1956, he married Ida Mae Sayer, who survives of the home. He had lived in Kearney since 1969 and was a graduate of New York High School and Northwest Missouri State College. He retired from Ford Motor Company, Claycomo plant, on Dec. 31, 1989, after 33 years of service. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict.
Additional survivors include two sons, Craig Evans of Overland Park, Kan., and Mark Evans of Richmond; three sisters, Helen Evans of Chillicothe, Margaret Cramer of rural Ludlow and Lydia Roebuck of Newark, Ohio; one brother, Tom Evans of Marshall; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
