Helen L. Lecus, 85, of Marshall, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. William W. Harlow will officiate. Pianist Julie Lewis will play "Amazing Grace" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Pallbearers will be Glen Eidson, J.C. Eidson, Ralph Green, Jeff Green, Shane Pearson and Lance Plaice. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials are suggested to the ALS Foundation or Multiple Sclerosis Association.
Born May 19, 1918, in Blue Lick, she was the daughter of the late Enoch H. Hinton and Mabel Niceley Hinton. On Oct. 3, 1953, she married Charles "Chuck" Lecus, who preceded her in death Jan. 13, 1994. She had lived in Marshall since 1983, moving from San Jose, Calif. She was a member of Zoar Baptist Church in Napton and was a homemaker.
Survivors include two daughters, Janet Green of Marshall and Elaine "Fritz" Palenske of Osage City, Kan.; four sisters, Edna Marks of Marshall, Anna Belle Krager of North Kansas City, Irene "Pete" Metzger of San Jose and Betty Kreisel of Rocheport; two brothers, Bill Hinton of Warsaw and Robert Hinton of Windsor; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Shirley Sue Eidson, one grandson and one sister.
