Herbert Darrell Phillips, 79, of Marshall, formerly of Lebanon, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at Mar-Saline Manor Care Center in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, at Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Lebanon. Rev. Bill Knapp will officiate. Music will be "How Great Thou Art" and "In the Garden." Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Phillip Burns, Curtis Robertson, Patrick Stephenson, Jimmy Dean Gibson, Matthew Smith and Phillip Stephenson. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Riley, Donald Ray Smith, Ronald Joe Smith, Maurice L. Roach, James Lee Smith and Bill Wayne Stowe. Burial will be in Grange Hall Cemetery near Lebanon.
Born Dec. 10, 1924, near Brush Creek in Laclede County, he was the son of the late Tucker Monroe and Maude Leota Auberry Phillips. He was raised in Laclede County and attended Gann School. He lived and farmed in the Lebanon area and was a Baptist.
Survivors include two sisters, Ruby Bryson of Marshall and Mary Smith of Delaware, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Alford and James Edward Phillips; and four sisters, Lora Makie, Fadra Strickland, Nadine Gibson and an infant.
