Blanche L. Wood, 91, of Pine Bluff, Ark., formerly of Gilliam, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2004, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Pine Bluff. Rev. Gordon Topping officiated. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, in the Gilliam Cemetery in Gilliam. Willie Harlow will officiate. Memorials are suggested to Arkansas Children's Hospital, 800 Marshall St., Little Rock, Ark. 72203.
Born Feb. 28, 1912, in Gilliam, she was the daughter of the late Charles Bell and Eady Haring Duncan. She was raised in Gilliam and graduated from Gilliam High School. She moved to Pine Bluff in 1950 and began working at Central Pharmacy in 1957, retiring in 1993 after 36 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Pine Bluff and taught a Sunday School class for 6-year-olds for 47 years. She was also a member of the Women's Missionary Circle at the church.
Survivors include one daughter, Donna Chisom of Pine Bluff; one brother, Jack Duncan of Phoenix, Ariz.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Woodrow Duncan, and one sister, Estelle Duncan Scaletty.
