Clarence "C.C." Blackburn, 91, of Topeka, Kan., died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, at St. Francis Health Center in Topeka.
Private funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 24, at Mount Hope Cemetery in Topeka. Memorial services were held Saturday, Dec. 27, at First Presbyterian Church in Topeka.
Born Jan. 16, 1912, on an Indian reservation in Oklahoma Territory, now Coweeta, Okla., he was the son of the late John A. and Rachel Peters Blackburn. On Feb. 21, 1954, he married Betty Jean Robison, who survives of the home. He had lived in Topeka since 1961. He was a Malta Bend High School graduate and a graduate of Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg before starting a 42-year career with Southwestern Bell in sales and management. He served as a major in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1942 to 1945.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Kay Blackburn of St. Louis and Gail Blackburn of Topeka.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Ray, Floyd, Cliff and Clyde Blackburn, and two sisters, Thelma Blackburn and Bernice Clyde.
