Bernice Agnes Cartee, 64, of Marshall, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, at University Hospital and Clinics in Columbia.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Marshall. Father Kevin Gormley will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, at the church. A prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials are suggested to Ellis Fischel Guest House or American Cancer Society in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall.
Born Sept. 15, 1939, in Saline County, she was the daughter of the late Alfred Melies and Delphine Schleuter Melies. On Feb. 12, 1956, she married Robert Farrell Cartee, who preceded her in death May 13, 1959. She had lived in Saline County her entire life and was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. She retired as a DA-II at the Marshall Habilitation Center in 2000 and then drove the OATS bus. She attended St. Peter Catholic School.
Survivors include one daughter, Debbie Coleman of Marshall; one son, Robert Cartee and wife Debbie of Monett; three brothers, Norbert Melies of Liberty, LeRoy Melies of rural Sweet Springs and Steve Melies of Marshall; one sister, Katherine Finley of Liberty; three grandsons, Jason Coleman of Kansas City and Dusty Coleman and Aaron Coleman, both of Marshall; three stepgrandchildren, Chris Martin, Ashley Martin and Brittany Martin; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, William Melies.
