Josephine E. Friley, 83, of Marshall, died Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. William W. Harlow will officiate. Pianist Julie Lewis will play "How Great Thou Art" and "Softly and Tenderly." Friends may call Friday before the service. Pallbearers will be Jack Hansen, John Hansen, Jeremy Hansen and Ed Zahn. Burial will be in Gilliam Cemetery in Gilliam. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
Born Aug. 27, 1920, in Roodhouse, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Peter H. Grotjan and Mary Elizabeth McGinnis Grotjan. On March 2, 1940, in Fayette, she married Junior Calvin Friley, who preceded her in death May 7, 2000. She had lived in Saline County most of her life and was a Methodist. She was retired from International Shoe Company in Marshall.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Clifford Ray Friley and William Eugene Friley.
