Louise Long Harris, 93, of Slater, died Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, at Weiker Funeral Home in Slater. Rev. David L. Duncan will officiate. Organist Bethany Weiker will play "In the Garden" and "Amazing Grace." Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Ronald Harris, Steve Owens, Roy Thomas, Gary Self, Bill Hines and Dr. Jamie Ulbrich. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Brown, Jerry Brown, James Himmelberg, Michael Hupp, Wayne Anderson, Billy Summers and Tommy Martin. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Miami Cemetery or the Huntington's Foundation.
Born Sept. 13, 1910, in Marshall, she was the daughter of the late Lacy and Lottie Marshall Long. In December 1943, in Sedalia, she married John Marvin Harris Jr., who preceded her in death Sept. 25, 1986. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and was a lifelong Saline County resident.
Additional survivors include one son, Terry Harris of rural Marshall; two brothers, James Long of Kansas City and Dick Anthony Long of Slater; two grandchildren; one stepgranddaughter; and one stepgreat-granddaughter.
