Frank Leland Kieffer, 76, of Gilliam, formerly of Brunswick, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, at Gibson Funeral Home in Brunswick. Rev. Lanny Lybarger will officiate. Pallbearers will be Henry Straub, Jack Garvin, Willy Haskamp, Jason Schnetzler, Carl "Butch" Wiseman and Virgil King. Honorary pallbearers will be Ben Iman, Brian Reynolds, Matt and Deryl Sanders, Brent Dickerson and Larry Howard. Burial will be in Elliott Grove Cemetery in Brunswick with military honors provided by American Legion Rucker-McAllister Post No. 7 in Brunswick. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
Born Aug. 30, 1927, in rural Miami, he was the son of the late Clarence and Jeanette Johnston Kieffer. On Dec. 6, 1948, in Pork Chicago, Calif., he married Edith Williams, who preceded him in death Dec. 1, 1999. He served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1949. Before his retirement, he had owned and operated Kieffer TV in Slater and later in Brunswick. He was a member of American Legion Rucker-McAllister Post No. 7 in Brunswick and Gilliam Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Donna Herring of Gilliam, Bonnie Kieffer of Glasgow and Nita Sanders of Salisbury; one brother, Clifton Kieffer of Bosworth; one sister, Catherine Kloeppel of Miami; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, George, Harold and Maurice Kieffer.
