Mary Lee Ray, 86, of Dearborn, died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003, at Oak Ridge Manor in Plattsburg.
Cremation. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 29, at Vaughn-Aufranc Funeral Home in Dearborn. Memorials are suggested to the John Robert and Mary Lee Ray Memorial Scholarship Fund at North Platte Schools or the charity of choice.
Born April 12, 1917, in Faucett, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Grable and Virginia Bacon Grable. On July 25, 1936, in St. Joseph, she married John Robert Ray, who preceded her in death in 2003. She was a Faucett High School graduate and was a member of Dearborn United Methodist Church. She was an avid supporter of the P.T.A. and the children. She was a Pathfinder with Platte Clay Electric Cooperative and worked at B.V. Ferril Dry Goods and Townsend and Wall Department Store. She was a member of the Eastern Star Adelphi Chapter and was a past worthy matron. She was a homemaker, wife and mother.
Survivors include one son, Robert Lee Ray and wife Sonia of Marshall; one daughter, Eloise Ray Riley and husband Jim of Columbia; one sister-in-law, Alys Grable of San Luis Obisbo, Calif.; four grandchildren, Candace Rae Brooks and husband Andy, Thomas Lee Riley and wife Beth, Robin L. Ray and Evan T. Ray; and four great-grandsons, Derik Brooks, Shannon Brooks, Sam R. Riley and Jake Riley.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Grable and Godfrey Gable, and one sister, Virginia Story.
