Leslie Dennis, 91, of Marshall, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2003, at Mar-Saline Manor Care Center in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Marshall. Father Kevin Gormley will officiate. A prayer service will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Ed Dennis, Greg Dennis, Larry Marcum, Rob Wilson, Charlie Klasing, Brian Klasing, Joey Barnhill, James Barnhill and Chris Yates. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials are suggested to the St. Peter Catholic Church Capital Building Fund or American Cancer Society.
Born Oct. 10, 1912, in Saline County, near Slater, he was the son of the late Joseph "Wood" Dennis and Nora Elizabeth Sinnett Dennis. On April 22, 1933, he married Loraine E. Boillot, who preceded him in death Nov. 17, 2003. He had lived in Marshall most of his life and was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Marshall. He was retired from International Shoe Company after working there 47 years and was a third degree member of Knights of Columbus Council 876 and a member of Woodman of the World. He was also a member of the Homeguard during World War II and a former member of Civil Defense.
Survivors include one son, Billy Edward Dennis of East Peoria, Ill.; five daughters, Phyllis Marcum of Marshall, Mary Wilson of Bella Vista, Ark., Helen Klasing of Warrenton, Judy Barnhill of Marshall and Barbara Yates of Marshall; one brother, J.W. Dennis of Buckner; one sister, Pearl Ford of Marshall; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one granddaughter, three brothers and three sisters.
