Martha Stouffer Leaton, 98, of Kansas City, formerly of Saline County, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, at Kingswood Manor in Kansas City.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. Rev. Norma Marchand will officiate. Pianist Julie Lewis will play "In the Garden," "Peace in the Valley" and "Beyond the Sunset." Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Pallbearers will be Bill Stouffer, Russell Leaton Jr., Gary Leaton, Mike Schuering, Lloyd Harvey and Bob Wheeler. Burial will be in Smith Chapel Cemetery in Saline County. Memorials are suggested to Smith Chapel United Methodist Church near Marshall.

Born July 25, 1905, in Napton, she was the daughter of the late Carroll Wood Stouffer and Leona Patrick Stouffer. On Nov. 23, 1985, she married Earl Leaton, who preceded her in death July 16, 1992. She was raised in Saline County and lived most of her life in Kansas City. She was a member of Westport United Methodist Church in Kansas City. She had worked as a bookkeeper for several companies and had a long career with Kansas City Power and Light, retiring in 1970.

Survivors include two stepsons, Russell Leaton of Laurie and Lester Leaton of Sedalia; three stepgrandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.
