Charles Monroe Akeman, 47, of rural Sweet Springs, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Sweet Springs. Rev. Gene Smith will officiate. Friends may call after 9 a.m., with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Sweet Springs. Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Born Oct. 10, 1956, in Independence, he was the son of the late Charles L. Akeman and Dorothy Vollrath Akeman, who survives of Sweet Springs. On Sept. 30, 1978, he married Vickie Steinkuhler, who survives of the home. He was a Methodist, a carpenter and farmer. He lived in Sweet Springs most of his life, moving there from Independence. He was also a 1974 Sweet Springs High School graduate.
Additional survivors include one daughter, Ashley Akeman of the home; one sister, Martha Hatfield of rural Sweet Springs; four nephews; and one niece.
