Carl S. Saylor, 66, of Marshall, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Gary Grossenbacher will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Sweeney-Reser-Wills Funeral Home in Marshall. Pallbearers will be Randy Davis, Laura Gerlt, Gary Grossenbacher, John Heilman, Carl Jones, Billy Joe Simmons and Barney Taylor.
Born July 23, 1937, in Blue Lick, he was the son of the late Otis Grant Saylor and Stella Jane Canida. On Aug. 9, 1990, in San Bernardino, Calif., he married Lela Ackerman, who survives of the home. He was a resident of the state of California for 35 years before returning to Marshall. He served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne and in the Missouri and California National Guard.
Additional survivors include three sons, Allen Saylor of Monett, Shane Jones of San Andreas, Calif., and Carl Jones of San Bernardino, Calif.; three daughters, Veronica Logan of Ozark; Cindy Saylor of Monett and Laura Gelt of White Sands, N.M.; four brothers, Lewis Cecil Saylor of Sweet Springs, Lloyd K. Saylor of Longview, Texas, Junior Saylor of Marshall and Willard Saylor of Sedalia; one sister, Lillie Whilhite of Marshall Junction; 16 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers and three sisters.
