Elie H. Flynn, 93, of Slater, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, at the Grace Rich home in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Slater. Rev. Phil Kane will officiate. Friends may call from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, at Weiker Funeral Home in Slater. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Slater City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Slater public school library.
Born Dec. 25, 1909, in Saline County, she was the daughter of the late Harry T. and Mary Duggins Gaines. On Aug. 9, 1946, in Leavenworth, Kan., she married William J. Flynn, who preceded her in death April 13, 1999. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Slater, the Slater Garden Club, Vivian Lessley Study Club, Daughters of the American Colonist and Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a graduate of Missouri Valley College in Marshall and taught elementary education in rural Saline County schools, Marshall public schools and Slater public schools before her retirement.
Survivors include one son, William Flynn of Manassas, Va.; two daughters, Margaret Ann Young and Mary Helen Eades, both of Marshall; one sister, Ann Spencer of Marshall; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister and one grandson.
