William Alfred Wenzel, 96, of St. Clair Shores, Mich., formerly of Saline County, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, in Grosse Pointe, Mich.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, at Highland Sacred Gardens Cemetery in Sedalia. William W. Harlow will officiate. Memorials are suggested to the family's choice in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall.
Born July 29, 1907, in rural Slater, he was the son of the late Charles J. Wenzel and Laura Venable Wenzel. He married Virginia Mais, who preceded him in death. He then married Iraida Ilinazi, who survives of the home. He was a graduate of Marshall High School and Missouri Valley College. He was an inspector for Industrial Magnet Company in Detroit, Mich., retiring in 1974. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving three years in the South Pacific. He was a member of Grosse Point United Church.
Additional survivors include one brother, Ralph Wenzel of Marshall; one sister, Nellie Opfer of rural Marshall; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, C.J. Wenzel, Kenneth Wenzel and Roger Wenzel; and one sister in infancy, Pauline Wenzel.
