Ralph T. Mires, 83, of Marshall, died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. Paul Hanna will officiate. Memorials are suggested to the charity of choice.
Born Feb. 18, 1920, in Adams, Okla., he was the son of the late Dudley Mires and Sarah Effie Gentry Mires. On June 1, 1941, he married Oleta Miller, who survives of the home. He had lived in Marshall since 1990, moving from Hooker, Okla. He was a member of the Church of Christ and Masonic Lodge in Hooker, and was a retired heavy equipment mechanic and welder. He was also a volunteer at Van Meter State Park and was selected as the Outstanding Missouri River District Volunteer for 2000.
Additional survivors include one son, Ralph Gene Mires of Safford, Ariz.; three daughters, Irene Baird of Ponca City, Okla., Carol VanSteenburgh of Hughesville and Tommie Pearson of Rolla; one brother, Gilbert Mires of Adams, Okla.; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Douglas Mires and Fred Mires.
