Mary Kathryn Gumm, 79, of Denton, Texas, died Monday, Nov. 17, 2003, at Denton Regional Medical Center.
Memorial services will be held in Marshall at a later date. DeBerry Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
Born Oct. 10, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Henry S. Wittman and Theresa Lorenz Wittman. On July 18, 1947, in Tucson, Ariz., she married Robert Gibson Gumm, who survives. She worked with her husband in the insurance business for 30 years. In 1988, she moved to Springfield from Hemet, Calif. She moved from Springfield to Marshall on Jan. 11, 1995. She was a member of the Emblem Club (Lady Elks) of Hemet and St. Peter Catholic Church in Marshall and volunteered at the Marshall Habilitation Center. She also attended Our Lady of the Valley Church in Hemet.
Additional survivors include one son, Robert B. Gumm of Denton; two sisters, Jeanette Thomas and Jeanelle Brown, both of Marshall; one brother, John Whittman of Marshall; two grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
