Ruth Cartee Whitley Cox, 92, of Brunswick, formerly of Miami, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, at the Brunswick Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, at Gibson Funeral Home in Brunswick. Rev. Kenneth Tounzen will officiate. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery in Miami. Memorials are suggested to Brunswick Nursing Home, designated for the nurses.
Born Sept. 5, 1911, in Laclede, she was the daughter of the late Leander and Dovie Jarman Patton. She had been a Miami resident until she moved to Brunswick in 1972, after her retirement from Banquet Foods in Marshall. She was a member of Miami Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Neta J. Cartee of Brunswick; one son, Lester L.W. Cartee of Louisiana; one sister, Anna Bedwell of Brunswick; 10 grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, one son, two sisters, two brothers and two grandsons.
