Eleanor Braun, 90, of Slater, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, at First Baptist Church in Slater. Rev. Robert Sisney will officiate. Organist Bethany Weiker will accompany Myra Jones and Donald Martin as they sing "How Great Thou Art" and "No Night There." Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27, at Weiker Funeral Home in Slater. Pallbearers will be Sam Jones, Phil Wymore, Claude Jones, Billy Summers, David Jones and Gerald Gerhard. Burial will be in Slater City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Slater First Baptist Church Scholarship Fund.
Born March 25, 1913, in Randolph County, she was the daughter of the late Melvin and Josie Robb Jones. On April 29, 1939, in Moberly, she married Martin C. Braun, who survives of the home. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Slater and was a graduate of Missouri Valley College in Marshall. She taught elementary education for 40 years until her retirement July 1, 1977. She taught her last 30 years at second grade at Slater public schools. She was a member of A.A.U.W., the Slater Garden Club, 42 Club and Vivian Lessley Study Club.
Additional survivors include one son, Robert D. Braun of Rogers, Ark.; one brother, Harold Jones of Mound City, Kan.; two granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
