J.C. VanWinkle, 76, of Olathe, Kan., formerly of Saline County, died Friday, Oct. 24, 2003, at the Center for Longterm Care in Olathe, Kan.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Father Kevin Gormley officiated. Burial was in Ridge Park Cemetery with military rites at graveside. Memorials are suggested to the family's choice in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall.
Born Nov. 27, 1926, in Norton, he was the son of the late Mary Matilda Bader VanWinkle. He had lived in Olathe the past year, living most of his life in Saline County. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Marshall and was a retired farmer. He was also a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include one daughter, Melinda S. Lynch of Shawnee, Kan.; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jesse VanWinkle Jr.
