David Eugene Moore, 21, of Marshall, received five years probation for lighting the fire that gutted this trailer at 866 N. Miami in Marshall.

A Marshall man accused of intentionally setting fire to a mobile home received probation in Saline County Circuit Court.

David Eugene Moore, 21, appeared before Dennis Rolf, presiding judge of the 15th Judicial Circuit, and pleaded guilty to starting the Sept. 16 fire which destroyed a trailer belonging to Duane Dixon. Saline County Prosecuting Attorney Don Stouffer charged Moore with class C felony arson in the second degree following the incident.

According to court records, Moore entered the unoccupied trailer at 866 N. Miami several times during the course of the night. Finally, he returned from inside the mobile home and sat looking at the sky. Witnesses said they asked Moore what he had done and were told to wait and see.

Moments later the trailer was engulfed in flames. Authorities arrived and were able to contain the blaze, but the home was destroyed.

After accepting Moore's plea, Rolf suspended the imposition of his sentence and placed him on five years probation.
