John Archie Brumble, 93, of Apple Valley, Calif., formerly of Saline County, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003, at Vine Residential Care in Hesperia, Calif.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Rev. Wayne Doolin will officiate. Memorials are suggested to the charity of donor's choice.
Born July 26, 1910, in Saline County, near Little Rock, he was the son of the late John Fletcher Brumble and Theodocia Rhoades Brumble. In 1940, he married Opal Marie McGregor Patrick. On Feb. 29, 1988, he married Ruby Mae Virden Johnson, who preceded him in death Feb. 8, 1993. He had lived in Saline County most of his life and was a member of First Baptist Church in Marshall. He retired from ConAgra Frozen Foods in Marshall, previously working at the Marshall State School, Rusk Engineering and International Shoe Company. After his retirement, he worked as a groundskeeper at Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall.
Survivors include one son, Jerry Brumble and wife, Leilani of Apple Valley, Calif.; two grandchildren, Charles Mathew Brumble of Crestline, Calif., and Andrea Patrice Jensen of Santa Rosa, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Elsie Hill, Minnie Sontag, Myrtle Brumble, Nellie Brumble and Marie Gray; five brothers, Amos Brumble, Frank Brumble, Charlie Brumble, Buell Brumble and Oliver Brumble; and one brother in infancy.
