Frances R. Gay, 82, of Lee's Summit, formerly of Slater, died Monday, Sept. 22, 2003, at Lee's Summit Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 26, at Slater Presbyterian Church. Rev. Pam Sebastian, Rev. James Gordon and Rev. Lee Soxman will officiate. Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in Slater City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the church in care of Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.
Born Oct. 17, 1920, in Kansas City, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Wade and Bess Steele Gay. She was a member of Slater Presbyterian Church and an associate member of Lee's Summit Methodist Church, where she volunteered many hours in the church office. She was also a member of Chapter LS of the P.E.O. sisterhood. She was a graduate of Slater High School and the University of Missouri-Columbia. She worked as a bookkeeper and office manager at the Gas Service Company for many years and then its successor, Missouri Gas Energy, until her retirement in 1986.
Survivors include several cousins.
