Mary Elizabeth Rogers, 82, of Edinburg, Texas, formerly of Sedalia, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003, at The Comfort House in McAllen, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel in Sedalia. Friends may call after 8 a.m. Thursday at the chapel. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel. Burial will be in LaMonte Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to The Comfort House in Care of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.
Born Oct. 31, 1920, in Sedalia, she was the daughter of the late George Herbert and Mary Pauline Williams Ellis. On Aug. 5, 1944, she married Army Sergeant Kenneth E. Rogers, who survives of the home. She attended business school after graduating from high school in Sedalia. She was an active member of First Christian Church. She retired in 1976 after 33 years working as a secretary to the district manager of Southwestern Bell. After retiring, she traveled throughout the United States and Canada for several years, then moved to Pharr, Texas. She then traveled occasionally and became active in the retirement community.
Additional survivors include one daughter, Sheryl Bray of Rancho Murieta, Calif.; one sister, Peggy Wharton of Marshall; and nieces and nephews.
