Harold F. "Dutch" Nagel, 85, of Weston, formerly of Slater, died Monday, Sept. 15, 2003, at Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial V.A. Medical Center in Leavenworth, Kan.
Military graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, at Slater City Cemetery. Rev. Tommy R. Barrett will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, at Weiker Funeral Home in Slater. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
Born Feb. 7, 1918, in Slater, he was the son of the late Arthur and Georgia Cross Nagel. On May 24, 1945, in Armstrong, he married Ruth M. Patterson, who preceded him in death Oct. 24, 1996. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Boonville and American Legion Post No. 78 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4367, both in Slater. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a prisoner of war. He worked as an over the road truck driver most of his life, retiring from Potter Trucking in Boonville. He had resided in Weston since 1997, moving from Slater.
Survivors include one son, Orin L. Nagel of Weston; two brothers, Wilbur Nagel of Boonville and Willard Nagel of Louisville, Ky.; one sister, Frances Oser of Boonville; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
