Billy Ray Ryan Sr., 74, of DeWitt, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2003, at Liberty Hospital in Liberty.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7, at Sweeney-Reser-Wills Funeral Home in Marshall. Rev. Wendell Turner will officiate. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at the funeral home.
Born Sept. 2, 1928, in Carroll County, near Wakenda, he was the son of the late Percy W. Ryan and Mary H. Gilliam Ryan. He was a resident of the DeWitt and Brunswick communities for many years and had farmed in the area. He was a commercial truck driver and had worked for Deffenbaugh Industries and Isis before his retirement.
Survivors include his companion, Ernestine Wabasha of the home; two sons, Billy Ray Ryan Jr. and wife Kathy of Brunswick and Thomas E. Ryan and wife Debbie of Dunksburg; three daughters, Mary Anne Johnson and husband Donald Ray of Parkville, Sharon Kay Johnson and husband Paul Dean of Platte City and Betty Jo Rodriguez and husband Benito of Green Ridge; one brother, Percy L. Ryan of DeWitt; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter.
