Thomas T. "Tom" Martin Jr., 77, of Marshall, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2003, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, 2003, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall. William W. Harlow will officiate. Music will be "One Day at a Time," "In the Garden" and "I Did It God's Way." Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial with military rites at graveside will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials are suggested to Butterfield Youth Services.
Born Aug. 12, 1926, in Blackburn, he was the son of the late Thomas Taylor Martin Sr. and Alma Jackson Martin. On Oct. 7, 1960, he married Shirley Jean Virden, who survives of the home. He had lived in Marshall most of his life. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Sedalia, where he was a clerk, after more than 30 years of service. He was a graduate of Santa Fe High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran and member of American Legion Post 558 in Malta Bend and Barbee Lodge No. 217 A.F. & A.M. in Sweet Springs.
Survivors include two sons, Kevin T. Martin and Jeff "Woody" Martin, both of Marshall; three granddaughters, Ashley, Amber and Ariel Martin; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jack Martin.
